About Us
Where Every Young Voice Matters
Empower MCR is a Manchester-based alternative education and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision supporting children and young people aged 8–19 who are disengaged from mainstream learning or struggling with emotionally based school attendance. We combine education, creativity, physical activity, and wellbeing support to help young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and thrive. Our trauma-informed and neurodivergent-inclusive approach places the young person at the centre of everything we do, supporting them through 1:1 mentoring, creative workshops, movement and outdoor experiences, and academic online learning in Maths and English.

We work in partnership with schools, colleges, families, and local authorities to deliver structured 12-week intervention programmes that focus on early intervention, prevention, and long-term positive outcomes. Whether the goal is reintegration back into education, progression into further training and employment, or simply restoring a young person’s belief in themselves, Empower MCR creates a safe, supportive, and aspirational environment where every young person feels heard, valued, and empowered to achieve their potential.

Our Story
Empower MCR was founded with a simple belief: every young person deserves to feel seen, heard, and capable of achieving their potential, regardless of their previous experiences of education. After years of working within schools, community projects, and youth services across Greater Manchester, our team repeatedly saw the same gap. Young people who were struggling with anxiety, school attendance, or unmet SEMH needs weren’t failing, the system was failing them. They were being labelled as disengaged when in reality, they were overwhelmed, unheard, or lost in environments that didn’t recognise how they learn best.

We created Empower MCR to change that narrative. Our approach integrates education, mentoring, creativity, movement, and outdoor experiences because young people don’t thrive in one-size-fits-all environments, they thrive when they feel safe, supported, and inspired. Today, through bespoke 12-week programmes and close partnership with schools, families, and local authorities, Empower MCR is helping young people rebuild confidence, reconnect with learning, and take their next steps with purpose and pride.
We don’t just focus on academic progress — we empower the whole person.
